“No, I’m a director…” Mo Liuxi’s replied with a stiff upper lip. He couldn’t believe that the man had just compared him to a sleazy playboy. Yes, he was handsome and good-looking, but that comparison was an insult.

“Oh, director,” Yan Lv nodded his head mockingly. “You’re the kind of director who sleeps with female actresses and exploits them with your status and power, right? I’ve read plenty of articles on men like you…”

Mo Liuxi’s mouth twitched. He detested people who tarnished the reputation of his profession. “I’m not one of those, I’m a genuine, decent man.”

“Hubby… isn’t he… isn’t he the one who got into a scandal with our daughter in Venice? Mo Liuxi?” Jiang Peiying spoke up after staring at him for quite some time.

Yan Su got out of the car reluctantly as her father walked over to her with big strides. Mo Liuxi quickly pulled her behind him, s.h.i.+elding her, “Uncle, let’s talk things through calmly. We can have a civilized chat. I’m here to give my Lunar New Year greetings. Auntie, talk to him, please. Just hear us out. Listen to our story.”

“What greetings? My blood pressure is so d.a.m.n high right now, I’m about to go to the hospital!” Yan Lv shot back, exasperated.

“Alright,” Jiang Peiying interrupted them. She was in a foul mood as well but standing there and shouting at each other wouldn’t have solved anything. “Cut it out, all our neighbors are back for the New Year—we look like a huge joke right now. Let’s talk inside. Drive your car in.”

Although Yan Lv was furious, he still cared about his reputation. He inhaled sharply, then proceeded to walk back to the villa.

Mo Liuxi was worried that Yan Lv would hit Yan Su so he quickly dragged her back to the car as they drove closer to the house.

After he had parked the car, he frowned and said to Yan Su, “You never told me how fierce your dad was.”

Yan Su lowered her head in silence.

Mo Liuxi said helplessly, “It’s okay, I understand. You must seem extremely unreliable in front of your dad, because of what happened with s.h.i.+ Xiang. You had a good time back then but you’re leaving me in such a difficult situation right now. Your father thinks of me as a despicable animal, even though I’m nothing but a gentleman.”

“Well, aren’t you an animal?” Yan Su rebuked him indignantly, “Why else would you drag me to the bedroom every time we meet? Besides, I would never have gotten pregnant if it wasn’t for you.”
